The UCLA Conference Center was built in the early 1920's as the exclusive and upscale North Shore Tavern. The North Shore Taven consisted of a main ladge and nine guest cabins. The resort property was only open in the summer months, and as there were no roads to the north side of the lake, guests had to be ferried across the lake from Lake Arrowhead Village. In 1957, the Los Angeles Turf Club, owners of the lodge, donated The North Shore Tavern to The UC Board of Regents to be used for a wide range of educational purposes.
The UCLA Conference Center now is one of the premier meeting and getaway places in the San Bernardino Mountains. They provide services to accommodate up to 200 conference guests. They also provide resort amenities such as lake access, tennis, and hiking, as well as shopping, dining and entertainment in nearby Lake Arrowhead Village.
