Household Hazardous Waste Collection August 7 at Heaps Peak

Running Springs, CA - San Bernardino County invites you to recycle or dispose of unwanted Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) materials at the Heaps Peak Transfer Station (29898 Highway 18, Running Springs). Collection times are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 7.

The Heaps Peak HHW collection facility accepts a wide variety of household generated hazardous wastes. These services are FREE for San Bernardino County residents only. Proof of residency may be requested. Early birds discouraged.

Heaps Peak will accept household generated:

 

  • Weed Killers, Cleaners, Gasoline, Antifreeze

 

 

       Wood Preservatives, Paints & Paint Products, Paint Thinner

     

     

  • Auto & Furniture Polish, Chemical Drain Cleaners
  •  

     

  • Pesticides & Fertilizers, Pool & Hobby Supplies
  •  

     

  • Auto & Household Batteries (cover contacts with masking tape)
  •  

     

  • Motor Oil, Oil Filters
  •  

     

  • Medications (excluding controlled substances, separate liquids and solids)
  •  

     

  • Fluorescent Light Tubes
  •  

     

  • E-Waste (TVs, monitors, computers, microwaves, VCR/DVD players, stereos, radios, printers, space heaters, clothes irons)
  •  

     

  • Musical Greeting Cards
  •  

 

Heaps Peak Transfer Station will not accept:

 

  • Business Wastes
  •  

     

  • Wastes from Non-Profit Organizations
  •  

     

  • Radioactives
  •  

     

  • Explosives
  •  

     

  • Medical Waste
  •  

     

  • Asbestos
  •  

     

  • Tires, appliances, furniture, air conditioners, etc.
  •  

 

The collection center is being funded and staffed as a service to the mountain community by the County Solid Waste Management Division.

 

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Program information is available at the transfer station scale house, the county at HHW or by calling (909)382-5401 or 1-800-OILY CAT (1-800-645-9228) for disposal options.

 

Heaps Peak Transfer Station will closed if there is inclement weather such as wind or rain.

 

The final event this year is expected to be Saturday, September 25.
